Building a distinctive brand presence requires consistency across all visual mediums. 7shifts serves as a technological solution for restaurants across North America. These shoots allow us to produce on-brand photography for the 7shifts website, sales collateral, and social media.

After the MOps team ran an analysis, we were able to determine that some new customers were receiving more than 10 emails over the course of a single week! To make matters worse - After an audit of our communications I determined that 50% of our communications were using outdated brand positioning. And although we had a wealth of data collected during onboarding of our customers, our communications were not personalized with this information.

Alongside our new Senior Manager of Marketing Operations, I rolled up my sleeves and dug in. We audited every outbound communication and established a clear, documented baseline for design and messaging standards. Our senior copywriter then collaborated in a series of 53 new communication touch points, tailored to each stage of a customer’s product onboarding journey. The result was a more consistent voice, stronger core messaging, and the ability to reach customers more thoughtfully at key moments throughout their journey.

Considerations

In order to showcase the contrast between the grit of back-of-house at restaurants, and the glam of the front-of-house experience, our team often shoots live on-location at real 7shifts customers in a direct-flash style.     

This positions us uniquely in the restaurant tech space, where often the imagery uses a heavy reliance on stock imagery and photos of polished spaces (often the opposite experience for back-of-house restaurant work that tends to be messy, chaotic and fast-paced)

Design Solution

I acted as the art director and primary point of contact on the shoot, overlooking the photography. Work included the coordination of timing with our restaurant customers, conceptualization of required shots, schedule management, and direction of the photography and film style.
